We only put about 5000 (easy) miles a year on our Crossfire but it's a daily driver. Our problem is when do an oil change. Last year I put in Amsoil 0w30 and a Wix filter. The container says it is good for up to 35000 miles, but the attendant said to get the oil changed every year. The oil was nearly $10 a quart and takes 9 quarts. Please give me some guidance. Thank you.

Hi:
You should change oil every 3K miles or once a year, what ever comes first.

As far as all oils, they don't wear out. They get dirty. Almost all oils today have a detergent in them. Thus, they are made to clean. After about 3K the detergent breaks down and stops doing its job. That is why most recommend changing it at 3K (and not 35K).

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe

It's recommended to change the oil every 3-5k/year, or once a year. It's oil is there to clean the engine, so it's essential to have an oil change every year.
Satisfaction is derived from a job well done.
