When in reverse or drive and idling, it makes a high-pitched chirping sound?

But when in neutral or park, it makes no noise. I am having trouble figuring this out. It's an automatic transmission.

Hi,

When you accelerate, do you hear it as well? Does it seem to be tied to engine speed? Could it be a belt issue?

Do me a favor. You will need a helper for this. Have the helper start the engine and place it in gear so the noise is heard. While it is making noise, open the hood and pour a small amount of water on the serpentine belt. See if it changes the sound.

When you do this, make sure you have old clothes on and eye protection because the water will splash.

Also, if there is no change, please record and upload it so I can hear the sound.

Take care the let me know what you find.

Joe
