Hello, I own the car listed above and it’s running smooth and everything except for this annoying sound I recently discovered (been hearing it for over 2 months now). It only happens when I hit the gas pedal and I’m on low RPM and it can be heard more clearly when I switch to reverse and press the gas pedal. I’m not sure if this is related to the belt or the fan or is it something completely different than that. It doesn’t really seem to be coming from the engine though. I attached a video which I took today while parking in the garage to clarify what exactly I’m talking about. I searched all over google and YouTube but couldn’t find anything similar or maybe I wasn’t able to clearly describe the sound.
any help is highly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Good morning,

Very difficult to hear the noise with the echo of the parking garage.

A common issue for noise as you described is the shield around the catalytic converter. It can vibrate causing a rattling noise if that is what it sounds like.

I would check that shield and see if it is loose. Take a small hammer a tap it and see if it creates the noise.

I attached a picture of the shield and its location.

Hello, thanks a lot for your reply. I tried looking into that however the heat shield noise seems to be an issue that would be heard even when hitting the pedal while idling. The interesting part is that I don’t actually face this issue when idling it only happens when accelerating forward on low rpm's or when going in reverse. I think the clearest time the noise could be heard in the video is on around the 14th second in the video (00:14). I appreciate your response whatsoever, if you have any idea or additional suggestions please let me know, thanks!

The shield is common for accelerating and letting off the gas as well.

I would still check the shield to be sure it is not the issue.

Beyond that maybe you could do another video outside in the open for me to hear.

Alright, I will definitely get that checked then! I will also upload a new video as soon as I can here in order to further clarify the noise. Thanks for your prompt response Roy.
