Hello,
My van had its brake pads replaced and since then it has had a rubbing noise (almost a groan). It is getting worse and today the abs light came on. When you are going straight or turn to the right you can hear the rubbing noise but when you turn or veer left it goes away. The rotor was not replaced and I was wondering if that could be the problem. There was no rubbing noise before the brakes were changed! Please help!

If the rotor was not replaced, did they machine it? It's either a bad machining or rust ridges on the rotors that are causing the noise, that and possibly the pad material. The sensors are magnetic, and it a lot of metalic flakes get attached to them, it can cause the ABS light to come on.

Thankyou so much for your time. We replaced the rotors last night and unfortunatly it is still rubbing. This is not only frustrating but getting expensive! We are going to try to just rotate tires, they look o.K. But who knows. Thankyou so much for your time though it is greatly appreciated!

Have a look at the dust shield behind the rotor, if it touches the rotor, pull it away. Do it when the brakes are cold though, saves burning your fingers!
