The temp control switch does not immediately change the temperature. Sometimes it has taken days to go from heat to a/c and vice versa. The fan control is working and the vacuum vent/floor/defrost control works fine. Any idea why this unit is so slow to make temperature changes?

Chances are there is a problem with the blend door. It is a vent door that opens and closes. Its purpose is to either allow AC to enter the passanger compartment or heat. If it is not working properly, this can happen. It is located near the heater core. Check to make sure it is working properly.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for the response. Since posting the question I did have our local mechanic check it out and that was the problem. The motor was toast and he replaced it and voila! Adjustable heat.
