Hi, I have a 1986 Chevy Silverado. Just had a new 350 put in because my 305 cracked a piston. I have a holley 650 on it and a performer intake, headers, and a 700r4 tranny. The company that built the motor said 330 hp 390 tq. But it feels alot like my old 150 hp 305 pos! Is my carb not adjusted right? Or is it something else? Please help me with any knowlege you have. Thanks!

Hello, do you have high gears in the rearend? When
they give you the hp and torque the readings are ussually from a dyno and not nessecarily what you get at the rearend and to the ground. If the motor sounds good and is running smooth, try bringing the rpm's up some in the lower gears(don't over rev, though) and see if if feels more like what you expect.
You may have to go with some lower gears to get the response that you are looking for. But this is coming from a dinosaur from before all the elec. And comps. What kind of dist. Are you running?Do you have the right plugs? All things to check out as carbs get blamed for alot that isn't their fault. Just some ideas of what to look at. Hope you get it thumpin good, thats sounds like the motor that I'm planning on gettingbut will be using 350 turbo behind it and 3.73 gears. Hope this does something for you :D

Another thing I noticed is that when the motor is nice and warm, if I hit the gas quick at a stop light or something, it hesitates a bit. But its not a normal hesitation like with a carb. Is that a vacuum advance problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
