The water pump is leaking where the pipe attaches which carries fluid to the heater core. Can I used thread tape or pipe dope like I use in my home plumbing or will the heat and pressure break these down?

Steam(?) Is venting out the tail pipe. I've never seen this before and have no clue what might be causing it.

Any thoughts?

Is it leaking from the pipe or from the hose? If the hose you could have a small crack and leak. If you have enough hose, you can cut a piece off the end and then reattach the hose. Make sure the hose and pipe is clean. Best thing to use is gasket sealer
that can be bought a local auto motive store. Use just enough on the inside of the hose. Also check the condition of the rest of the hose to see if it is going bad.

I've checked _very_ carefully and it seems to be coming from where the pipe screws into the pump. I wish it was the hose but I might seal that up while I'm at it anyway.

Thanks.

Is it the hose that goes onto a pipe that goes into the water pump? Idf so it can be replaced by unscrewing the tube and installing another tube. You can use plumbers tape on the treads to prevent leaks. The pipes do go bad and if there was a weak spot it may have worn through
