1993 Chevy Truck oil pressure

lost oil pressure and would like to know how to tell if the oil broke down or if i lost the oil pump

If low/no oil pressure is verified by mechanical gauge, then hopefully oil pump.

If oil is contaminated with coolant (chocolate color thin consistancy), then head gasket.
If oil is contaminated, then most likely you also have a main/cam bearing problem and engine will have to be rebuilt.

If oil is OK, then replace oil pump.
