Engine Performance problem
1993 Chevy Truck 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my truck runs great when it wants to. When Im driving it acts like its flooding itself out until I hit a big bump then the engine takes off, then back to running like crap. I have to drive with both feet even though its an automatic, if I dont keep giving it gas it will die but I can restart. Could it be a sticky egr valve or could the exhaust also be resttricting flow because itts pretty rustty with holes. I need help because I love my truck.

Hi:
Yes, the catylatic converter could be plugged. With the engine running, listen for hissing sounds from the converter area and make sure there is good pressure coming from the exhaust.

Let me know what you find.
