1989 Chevy Truck clanking noise

I have a clanking noise around my bellhousing when I idle and up to bout 1300 rpm and then it smooths out and then when I slow down it does it bcan someone help, also my four wheel drive accuator will engage but does not extend all the way out and it will not engage the front axles could my accuator be bad and should I put a new one on

Hi there,

The noise sounds like a cracked flex plate, as for the actuator, it may be binding up on the splines it may be worth checking and cleaning on the bench before replacing it.
