The engine runs great while idling, it has lots of compression but as soon as you put it in gear it loses power. I have bought a brand new battery because after testing it the battery was found to be no good. Even with the new battery the truck is still doing the same thing. I don't have any fancy stereo hook up or any thing, it's a plan jane girl can you make some suggestions on where to look. Thank you. Tina

Do you mean that when you put it in gear and try to go it stalls, or you step on the gas to go and it just goes chug chug chug or does it feel like your pulling an anchor. Or by no power do you mean the battery dies or lights?

When you put it in either drive or reverse it goes chug chug chug with huge boat anchor. The engine is a 350, with about 169000 miles not kilometers.

Last questions I promise. Did you or any one do any work under the hood besides the battery change? Also did it just start doing this all of a sudden?

First change the fuel filter. Then check all your vacuum lines make sure everything is still connected. The line for the vac advance going from the dist to the carb also. Let me know if you find anything.

I want to thank you Newburg for your help, one of the problems was in fact a vacuum loss. The connector for the 4 barrel & the tranny vacuum was broken off. I fixed that, and replaced one vac hose that had deteriorated, but that still didn't fix the problem. So my husband suggested to change the carb itself. So we took the carb off our sprint, and put it on the truck, and hey what do you know the old girl has got lots of power to drive down the highway and them some. To celebrate my husban took me into town in the truck for ice cream and she got a full tank of premium. So thanks again for all help.
