2004 Chevy Trailblazer Water Pump Removal/ Fan Blade Clutch

On this model the fan is atached to the water pump by one singel large collar nut, how to you seperate the fan from the pump. Do you attempt to remove the before removing the belt or remove the pump and fan in one piece?

There is a special tool that holds the pulley, and a low clearance type of crowfoot adapter that attacks the fan clutch nut. The fan is usually removed, and then the pump. Having the belt still on can help.
