I drive a 2001 Chevy Tahoe. It has been surging while driving for about 4 weeks now. The check engine light came on 7 days ago and then went off a day later. Once again today the light came back on so I took it to a mechanic and he said it was because of the EGR valve. The mileage is approx. 85000 the engine is a 5.3L Vortec. The transmission was overhauled aout 7 months ago. Could the EGR valve be the cause of the surging. If so, does it need replacing or is there another cure?
