Engine Performance problem V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 40000 miles

Since it has turned cold, the check engine light remains on until the ambient temp rises to over about 36F. Sometimes it stays on days. The computer code indicated that the both cylinder banks are running too lean. Chevy dealer said the intake gaskets are leaking and need to be replaced to the tune of $650. Am I getting ripped off here??

If they are leaking, no. But, are they sure that is the problem?

Let me know.

After you start the truck let it warm enough so there is no a lot of smoke out of the tailgate. Pour some water over the gaskets (just over the fuel rails) if you see a bunch of smoke start to come out of the tailpipe they are leaking.
