I have a 2002 Tahoe, 5.3L Flex fuel, that has started throwing two codes, a P0301, and a P0301pending. The SES light is steady below about 20MPH, and flashes above it or in heavy throttle. I have replaced plugs and wires, and flopped the coil packs with another cylinder, and still get the same message. The injector clicks with a stethoscope, and I did replace the fuel filter, and tried with some throttle body cleaner. No luck, still have the miss.
I pulled the rails, and wouldnt you know it, NAPA gave me the wrong injector, and it was after hours. I replaced everything to get to work and am picking up the right one tomorrow.
My question is although I should have flopped two injectors when I had the rails off, is there anything else I should do to troubleshoot this?
And, I am guessing the injector is not entirely plugged, and letting enough fuel by to cause the pending code, but not enough to fire well at higher throttle, thus tripping the hard miss code.
Can an injector needle break? While I have the rails off, should be they cleaned with some cleaner, or anything else other than the #1 injector replacement and a fresh set of o-rings?
Thanks for the help! Appreciate the site.
