I'm about to purchase a 1999 chevy tahoe with 145000 miles on it from a used car lot. It comes with a 3-month warranty. The check engine light is on I asked why? And the dealer told me that they had just replaced the fuel pump. Could this be true and is this a good investment. I'm only looking to get 2 or 3 years out of this truck and I'll be putting highway miles on it at least 150 or less a week. Please help?

Get it scanned for codes first. Never believe a used car salseperson. They tell you whatever it takes to make the sale. If they won't let you have it inspected before you buy it, DON'T buy it.

He let me take it to a garage. The trouble code indicated that it was o2 sensor and one of the cilender's was misfiring. I told the salesman and they agreed to fix the problem before purchase. So if I wanted to buy the truck it would be ready by next week. What do you think?

Make sure they fix it. Drive it again before you buy it. Find out what parts they put on it to repair it. If they take it somewhere else for repairs, ask to see an invoice. Make sure the check engine light comes on when you turn the key on and goes out when the engine is started.
