1997 Suburban 4X4. Eventually

My 1997 Diesel Suburban 2500 runs strong, but when I push the 4 HI button (to switch from 2 to 4 WD) it takes up to 40 seconds sometimes to complete the transfer, switching back to 2WD is normal, only takes 3 or 4 seconds to complete. Is this an old well used actuator or something worse?

I work for the comp. That makes that actuator it is driven by a small dc motor and is a spring return it could be the motor
