Shift control solenoid

1999 Chevy Silverado standard cab Z71 4x4 with 165,000 miles. Vehicle will not shift into OD. Trouble code indicated an open circuit in the shift control solenoid. My Question is where is it and how hard is it to replace?

You must be talking about the brake/transmission shift interlock solenoid. Its on the lower part of the steering.
