Hi there,

there are a number of components in the steering and suspension that could be the cause. I would be looking at Tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, loose steering components, suspension bushes. These items require a trained eye to inspect correctly, have your mechanic do a steering & suspension inspection, as he should be well aware of the methods required to inspect each component correctly.

My 2005 Silverado is doing it too! I inquired with my neighbor who has had 3 of these Siverado's do the same thing.
There is a tube that connects to the shaft on your steering column, it has dried up and needs to be lubricated by the folks at the dealer. Take it to the dealership and tell them what you are feeling and ask them up front to do this without charging you.
