Transmission problem
2000 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2000 Silverado auto 4x4 with tow/haul option 6.0 with 140,000 miles. The truck doesn't shift hard (all gears) until it warms up but if I pull off the road shut the truck off for about a min then start it back up and drive its fine for a few miles then it starts shifting hard again. Thanks

It seems to shift the same cold or hot. If I take my foot off the gas pedal like a standard it will shift smooth like normal. The fluid level is good. Its been a long time since the filter and oil have been changed. There are no check eng lights. Thanks

You need to have the trans scaned to see if shift solenoids and speed sensors are operating normaly.
Afluid and filter change may help old fluid looses hydraulic properties and that maybe the shift trouble.

Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it but if it was the fluid wouldnt it effect it the entire time its warmed up. It can start shifting hard but once I turn it off and turn it back on its back to norm. Could the tranny cool down that fast. And doesnt it take a couple miles of interstate driving for it to warm up. I can usually drive about 15 miles on the 4 lane before it asks up sometimes longer. Thanks

Shift solenoid most likely or speed sensor scan will tell.
