1999 Chevy Silverado Service 4 wheel drive lite

I spotted this truck in a farmers pasture watched it for 6 or 8 months, asked if he wanted to sell it. He said the fuel pump was bad (checked it out it was) I bought it pulled the bed replaced the fuel pump in the pasture and drove it home. The service 4 wheel drive light was on I thought the selector switch was bad, replaced it still not working and lights still on. Need some troubleshooting tips before I spend anymore $. The 4 wheel drive is not engaging.

That is the computer letting you know it ses an issue with the 4wd system. You need to have the system scanned for codes to see what part is causing the warning, and system to be inop. The 4wd actuator motor on the t-case is a common failure, but a scan will take the guess work out of it
