The car has an electronic switch for shifting in and out of 4x4. It will go into 4lo, but not 4hi. I had the module replaced and it worked for one day, then failed again. When the switch is actuated, there is an audible click from the module, and the indicator light blinks twice but does not engage. The tech who installed the module said I should have the encoader moter replaced, however when I asked another tech from the same shop he said it has nothing to do with the motor since 4lo works properly. What do you think?

Thank you.

Need to test the motor to see if it is getting power telling it to go into 4hi. Could very well be the problem, just because it works one direction doesnt mean it will work in the other

Transmission problem
1993 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 156, 00 miles

My 1993 s-10 Blazer with the 4le60 transmission doesn't shift 1st to 2nd when cold, but when it is allowed to partially warm up it shifts fine.I have taken it to a transmission mechanic who told me it was trying to start out in 2nd gear instead of 1st after putting some sort of tester on it. He was telling me that it can be fixed with a 1st to 2nd selenoid. Any other ideas why it might work fine when warmed up and not when cold? Thanks Gary Brooks.

It certainly sounds like the solonoid. You can try changing the fluid and filter, but it does sound like the 1-2 shift solonoid. This is a fairly common issue with these transmissions, and it is fairly easy to fix.

I have changed both the 1-2 solenoid and the 2-3 solenoid and it still doesn't shift from 1-2 properly until it is warmed up. Now what? Thanks.

Did this issue start just out of the blue? How long has this been happening? Are there any trouble codes stored in the computer? If so, what are they?

Did you change the tranny fluid and filter? If so, what was the condition of the old fluid? Did it smell burnt - what color was it - and how much clutch material was in the pan?

Well now out of the blue the Blazer dosen't want to start. My son brought it home during the lunch hour and it died on the way home and restarted just long enough to get him home and died again. He said it still did not shift right when it was cold until it warmed up. He said after about 20 minutes it started and left it running during lunch only to find that it died again. He got it started 1 more time and had driven to school with no problem with the running issues but still the same shifting issues. It didn't start again after school and that is where we are at.I was going to take it in to a mechanic to check for codes but now we are dead in the water. The answer some to some of your questions, it slowly developed as a problem it started getting colder out, about 2 months, changed trans. Fluid and filter 2 times now and added 1 jug of Lucas conditioner both times, fluid was red and did not smell burned, had very little clutch material in pan. It does have a B @ M electronic shift improver installed that has 3 settings and acts the same with trying all 3 settings. This has never had running issues until all of this at once. Things that were installed new in last 9 months, fuel pump, fuel filter, distributer, distributor cap, fuel pump, battery, rotor, B@M shift improver, and all fuses were checked and are good. Now I'm thinking maybe a bad computer? What do you think?Thank you.

My truck is stuck in low gear. It will not shift and you cannot turn off truck with switch.
