I have a 1984 Chevy pickup 1500 with a 350 motor in it. When I get speeds over 70mph, the distributor turns which makes my truck die.I need to know how to align the distributor and put the part on the distributor so it won't move again.

To re-align your distributor turn the engine over with your cap, wires and the number on spark plug removed from your engine until the number one cylinder is at top dead center. Then make sure that the rotor button contact lines up with the number one spark plug contact on your cap. A u-clip with a single bolt that threads into the block usually fastens the distributor tight to the block. A 1/2 or 9/16 in wrench ought to help with that. After you tighten the u-clip down try to turn the distributor to see if it moves. Oh, and make sure that you have the gasket that the distributor seats on otherwise you'll be cleaning up and buying a lot of oil. Hope I helped.
