I am having trouble with my power steering when attempting to turn my steering wheel to the right. It's ok when turning to the left though. I added power steering fluid but I'm still having problems. Someone has said that I might need to have my power steering belt replaced or I might have a bad power steering pump. Can you please shed some light on what the issue might be?
Thank you

Hi,

Replacing the power steering pump isn't too difficult. However, it will take some time and can get messy with the power steering fluid.

Also, since you will need to remove the serpentine belt to remove the pump, this is a good time to replace the belt.

One other issue is you will need to remove the power steering pump pulley and then reinstall it on the new pump. Here is a link that shows how that is done. You will need a special tool, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

To get you started, here is a link that shows in general how to replace the pump. Review this before starting and then you can use it as a general guide.

If you look at the attachments below, they provide the directions specific to your vehicle for the removal and replacement of the pump.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
