why does my service engine light flash when idaling? What does that mean?

Welcome to the site. Have the codes checked, some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free. My first thought would be an 02 sensor code. The code doesn't tell you what to replace, just that the computer thinks there is a problem on that circuit somewhere.
