2001 Chevy Lumina not geting overdrive

2001 Chevy Lumina V6 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 82k miles

yester day I heard a winding from the trany and had to gas it hard to shift to overdrive checked fulid looker a little dark but was full next day it was not going overdrive at all shifts 1 2 and 3 normal do you think it shot or is there somthing I could do before I change it

Sounds like the fourth clutch shaft is stripped. The trans will need to be disassembled to repair.

It is possible that the input shaft speed sensor is causing this issue. Here is the location of the sensor so you can swap it out also we should run the codes to see if any are stored that can point us in the right direction.
