Ignition switch?

My camaro did the same thing, I had a 91 with a 3.1, I would turn the key may be 10 times all I would gett is a click and click, and then one good time it started, this would happen every time. I put a new starter on, still did it, I turned the problem over to my dad, he found out there was a problem with the factory security system, the ignition wire that goes to the starter takes a little trip through, the security system, that was the problem, my dad by-passed it directly to the starter. Problem solved.
