accelerator ??????throttle body???

i was wondering if anyone knew what could be wrong with my 91 rodeo..i tried starting one day and the gas pedal was stuck so me being stupid pressed hard down on it.....i hear a pop and then there was no pressure to the pedal....i bought a return spring and attached it and it still has no pressure...i know the cable is ok...what else could it be???? and would anyone have a diagram showing how to set the return spring???
