Heater problem
2005 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 6o,ooo miles

Heat coming in on passenger side but not on drivers side. Put in new thermostat and actuator but neither made a difference. Wondering what else it could be?

possible temp door stuck or a actuator is going bad

I have flushed the system twice and now changed the thermostat what else can it be, it appears to have water flow

if it is building up pressure real fast i would suspect a bad head gasket but most likely its air in the system. ii let them run until real hot then let it cool down then recheck coolant level and repeat.

The driver side will cool but not blow any heat. Does this side have a fuse or something that controls the heat.

the control panel is not working on driver side I can not find any fuses or relays for that the control panel would need to be replaced and I see you have 56000 miles on it what is your warrenty on your car if it is out of warrenty I can send you the removal and install for replaceing the control panel

I have a 2004 Chevy Impala 62K miles with the same issues and I took my vehicle to the Dealership as I'm not a mechanic and they deteremined it was the temp actuator on the 04 model there are 3 as I was getting warm air on the passenger side;however it just blew cold air on the driver's side. I ended up paying $301.72 just to have this plastic piece replaced. The price on the part alone was $54.88 the labor $213.95 .

Good luck, I'm now having other issues with my battery light and a few months ago I just replaced the battery, alternator and at 32K miles the waterpump also went out??? I'm not happy with this vehicle.

the acuator needs to be reprogramed that is the cost of the labor butyes it also could be the acuator the your 2005 that does deturmine the temp on driver and passenger side

The heater only blows warm air if the fan is on low. Once the fan is turned up to on high the air turns cold. but putting the blower back on low it will blow warm air.
Even the coolant is only luke warm after running for a long period of time.
do I need to replace the termastat?

Yes a new thermostat would be the ticket.

How do I change a termostat in my Impala [3.8 V6].
I am having problems with getting hot air inside either side. After you have drove it and warmed it up you still have no heat. If you shut it off and let it sit for awhile the heat will work. Thats why I think its the termostat. Do you think I might be right?

how is the coolant level first? make sure you dont have anyother leaks before replacing the thermostat.
the thermostat is located under the throttle body. they can be a pain to get to.

The coolant level is full in both the rad and tank. I haven't found any leaks yet either. Could it be air in the system, and not the thermostat?

very well could be air thats why i asked if you seen any leaks or if it is low on coolant. if you dont see any, then i would replace the thermostat

i have no heat on driver side and no defrost, but i have heat on the passenger side, what could the problem be?

the blower works on #5 1 thru 4 blower does not work

sounds like the mixing doors are stuck closed. is there a hissing noise that you can hear? or clicking noise.

With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both too hot to hold. If they are..........

The heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. it is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.

Check fuses, connections, and relays.

my heater is blowing cold air I had the coolent flushed and bleed but the air comming out is cold not hot. also the hose going in is hot as shit so I dont think its getting in the cabin of the car

Sounds like you have a plugged up heater core and it will have to be replaced.

my Heater will only blow cold air. I flushed radiator. there is no water coming out in the car, it is not blowing antifreeze on wind sheild. no hot air at all

Do the heater hoses get hot? Might be a temp door under the dash having a problem? Any hvac trouble codes?

No heat. Water pump replaced last year. Hose broke about a month ago and all fluid was replaced. There is talk about acuators on line, but I can't locate them in the car book. Is there a fuse for them?

try pulling the hvac fuse for 60 seconds with key on then reinstall sometimes that resets the actuators. there are two one for left and one for right and one for heat/cool #2 is heat but it may be #1 as well. pic is under the dash on rh side.

You have air int he cooling system. These motors can be a bit of a bear to bleed out. Open the radiator when safe. top off with coolant, start car and turn on the heat, let it warm up to operating temp, raise rpm to 2500 and hold it for 5 seconds (you will need to do this several times through out this procedure), If you have bleeders located on t he the bypass hoses (there may be 2. 8mm), crack them open just enough to let any air out and raise the rpm by hand at the throttle body. keep doing this till you have heat at idle and a steady flow out of the bleeders, and then top off the coolant in the radiator.
