2000 Chevy Impala Tranny shifts hard after 20mins. Of Drivi

Hello,
After about 20 minutes of driving the car tends to shift hard and I can hear a whining sound. When I stop and turn the car off for an hour or so it seems to go away until the cycle repeats itself. Are there any bulletins or recalls on this? Any ideas on a fix?

More than likely it is a problem with the pressure control soleniod in the transmission. They've been having a few problems with them in the 4T65 transmissions.
Is the check engine light on?
If so, does it have a code p1811 stored in it?

About how much should I expect to pay for this type of repair? ( Baseball park)

Probably around $600 or so depending on your mechanics hourly rate.
