I just fixed my wife's car; she had the same problem. As it turned out, my headlight switch was the problem. All the lights (instrument panel, radio, AC lights, etc) are wired thru this switch.
Here is a troubleshooting procedure for you:
*Remove the headlight switch (you have to remove the instrument panel bezel first)
*Once the switch is disconnected, put a jumper across the brown/white wire and the grey wire at the connector (not at the switch... Obviously). There are two grey wires at the connector: the one you want is the one located farther away from the brown/white wire.
*when you put the jumper across these two wires, your dashboard lights should come on fully bright (make sure you do the test during the evening/night so that you can actually see it).
*If the lights DO come on, that confirms a bad switch. A new one costs around $120. If they DON'T come on, suspect a module problem.
