If you have not solved the problem yet. Try to flush the cooling system, mix the coolant to 60/40, and before you replace the radiator cap, run the engine until the thermostat opens. Usually when your temp gauge reads about half and your coolant level should drop, also squeas the top radiator hose to (burp) out any air.
