we are trying to determine what is the cause of excessive fuel useage. We were told catalytic converter, but believe we have determined that is NOT the case. Gas is getting into the charcoal canister. What information can you give me regarding this matter?
(no carbeurator, throttle body instead)

So tell me have you checked the fuel pressure? If not do that first and let me know what you find. Then if you would unplug the temp sensor this is the one for the computer it is a two wire sensor on or near the thermostat, now with a digital multi meter do an ohms test on the sensor (not the wire harness). Do this when the truck is cold and let me know what the ohms are and the air temp at the time you do the test. Get back to me with what you find.

I'm assuming you have a 4.3, Engine off, remove air cleaner, lean over engine, with you nose real close to the throttlebody assy, open throttle plates by using accellerator cable, check for gas smell, if you have gas smell, replace spider injector assembly, ITS LEAKING, this is a common problem.
