1968 Chevy Chevelle R & R ignition switch

I have the replacement lock cylinder and switch, and have already removed the lock cylinder. The new ignition switch is threaded on the outside, but the old one won't budge. Just so you know, I am an ASE certified tech, so I do have some experience. I just don't want to mess this up. Is there some trick to this?

The escutcheon (chrome piece) unscrews from the lock cylinder and that holds the cylinder into the dash. The lock cylinder has to be removed for that to come off though. Then it is amatter of replacing the inginton switch.
