Car started rough this morning. Engine light is blinking. The car rides rough and the motor and even muffler is shaking. There is no power. We changed spark plugs and coil boots. Fuel filter was fixed last summer. I cant get the car to autozone to get a code because the car drives slow and I dont want to mess anything up. I need it fixed but cant afford to pay $60 to get the code at the auto shop.

YOUR CODE IS MULTIPLE MISFIRE. WHEN YOU REPLACED PLUGS AND BOOTS DID YOU CHANGE THE COIL COVER? THAT IS THE PLASTIC HOUSING THE PLUG BOOTS CONNECT TO. CHANGE THAT COVER. ITS CALLED A COIL COVER. IT ACTS LIKE A DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND MISFIRES OCCUR INSIDE IT. HOPE THIS HELPS

Took my car to the shop. They checked the compression at 175 110 155 170.
They want to check the timing chain. I read that it could be piston rings, weak injectors, weak coil or egr valve. I have new coil pack, plugs and spark plug boots. Still misfiring #1 and #4. Help

My cavy is doing the same 120k miles almost however it is just one cylinder. I know its not the fuel injector and its not the spark plugs. I am told it might be the coil pack. I had it a a mech but he was not any good. He didn't have the knowledge or tools. I have it at a new one. I'll let you know what they tell me.
