1996 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Automatic 160000 miles

My 1996 chevy cavalier will stop after i've driven it about an hour or two. Then i'll spray starter fluid into the air intake and it will start up and drive again. If I don't spray the starter fluid it will turn on then cut offf immediatley or just not at all. And my firing order is messed up after doing a tune-up. So how do I know which wires go where after i've messed them up already?

The coils should be marked what cylinder they go to.
The spark plugs go in order from the front of the engine
1, 2, 3, 4
4 is at the back of the engine

I had replaced the spark plugs and wires but I must have put them back on wrong my book says the firing order is 1-3-4-2 is this correct and do I count from left to right being spark plug number 1 being 1 and number 2 being 2 and so on and how are the distributer posts numbered meaning the post closest to the top of engine being number1 and the last post being 4 or do the numbers alternate?

This vehicle is equipped with coil packs on the back of the motor. One coil controls 1 and 4 and the other controls 2 and 3. The coils should be labled. Then just match them up one is for number one cylinder. Closest to crank pulley then work back from there.

We had a tune up done the other day and since then my car has driven funny. It stalls and is running rough. I was told to check and make sure the wires were in the right firing order but I cant find out what the order should be. Can I please get the firing order so I can check it? Its 3.1L. Thanks this helps alot.
