Hello,

I have on my hands a 2002 cavalier, which will not crank. By this I mean it is behaving as though the key is not in the crank, nor in the on position. No idiot light come on when the key is in the on or crank position either. Power is good, 12.16 volts in the main panel in the engine compartment, and the fuse panel in dash. Also all fuses are good in both panels. Also, hazards work, dome light, head lamps, etc work. Pretty much everything that will work with the key off, is working. Last note, the clock on the factory radio will light up when the ignition key is in the accessory position, and CD eject also works, but no radio.

Thinking of a possible ignition switch issue or connection issue from the switch to the processor module behind the instrument cluster.

What would be your thoughts?

Thank you for your help!

Yes I agree. I would check the red wires at the ignition switch for battery voltage then check all other wires except the yellow or purple wire will have power with the igntion in run position. If they dont then replace the ignition switch. The pink wires at the ignition switch for sure should be powered with the key on. Let me know
