Car has been "missing" for months and battery light on dash kept coming on/off. Two diagnostics, one by service center and one by transmission specialist. Neither could find a problem but after the transmission folks tinkered around, the light doesn't come on anymore. When driving at low or high speeds the car can stall somewhat and then pick up all of a sudden. This happens during acceleration and deceleration. I put a small amount of expensive regular gas in today (tank was almost empty) and it ran almost perfectly. Later in the day I filled the tank with Valero gas and immediately it was a rough ride. I've had the car for 6 years and don't think I've done anything with the fuel system. What should I do?

First change your fule filter and then check your fuel pressure. Also check your battery to make sure it is in good condition. If it is then clean your cables and grounds. It almost sounds like your computer isn't getting good juice to run right. Maybe youshould try another brand of fuel beside Valero. That may be your problem. Sometimes the lower grades of fuel cause problems as well.

I have a 2002 cavaler Z24 and I had a similar problem. I did a tune up and changed the fuel filter and I still had the problem. I did some research and found out that the coil pack on the top of the engine is known to fail. I replaced the coil pack for 200.00 and the car is idling better and the miss is gone. The Z24 has a slightly diferent coil pack than the other cavalier.
