1999 Chevy Cavalier Severe ticking

My car has this horrible ticking sound almost like a ticking time bomb. Also the first two levels of my air and heat dont work. I can only use high and higher...What is causing this and if you can answer that what needs replacing... I am poor. LOL

If OHV engine, remove valve cover and spark plugs, rotate engine by hand (ratchet and socket on balancer bolt), watch valve train movement, look for loose rocker arms, bent pushrods.
