Hi, I have 1999 Chev Cavalier and I had noticed that my engine is getting warmer than usual. We checked the Fan, and the relay to be sure that they a both working and they are working perfectly. So we decided to hard wire the fan to run all the time while driving to keep the engine cooled enough and if I do a longer period of time driving then I will turn the car off but leave the fan run until it cools off. Could this cause problems for my car engine down the road doing this and I have a sensor to replace and the I will be reinsalling the cooling fan to operate as normal. I am doin this repair from home and from looking around the engine compartment I am not able to determine where the the sensor is for the cooling fan. Do you have a diagram and what wires to check just in case there is a wiring problem instead of the sensor?

Thank you!

The cooling fan is activated by the pcm with readings taken from the cooling sensor located on the rear (driver's side) of the cylinder head. The sensor is only about 12 bucks at the Napa store. (Done it). Beware of bad fan motors as I have bought 2 cavaliers with blown head gaskets due to bad fan motors. Hope this helps, VIC
