Noises problem
1996 Chevy Cavalier Automatic 160, 00 miles

Just today I started noticing a rattling noise upon start up of my car. The car is not cold, and it isnt from the engine. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the car. The noise lessens and then stops while I am driving, but when the car is idle it continues again. It is a rattling kind of grinding noise. Also, my car seems to be revving itself when I am idle at a stop sign. Any answers? Would really appreciate it.

Sounds like the exhaust system is hitting the suspension system somewhere in the rear or a loose heat shield.
On the erratic idle, check the idle speed control unit (ISC) on the intake manifold. It may just have to be removed and cleaned.
