1992 Chevy Cavalier Scraping and low brake stopping ability

Brakes problem
1992 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When applying the brake the pedal is mushy and I hear a metal against metal sound. [ Bad brake performance]

Even after taking off it takes a little time for the scraping sound to stop. The brakes have recently been redone and new calipers installed. I'm a fifty year old female who may have to resolve this problem on her own so any help would be greatly appreciated. Funds are an issue. And yes it is ABS.

If they were just redone, then I would suggest taking it back to the company that did it before and see if there is a warranty. Most places will cover something like that.

Thank you I had to take the car for a different repair and found out though it was only done last year both rotors and brake pads were shot. So I will be having the job redone later this week. Thank you for your prompt help and attention.
