91 Chevy Caprice oveheating

So my car has been over heating starteda couple of months ago on a hour drive started smoking so pulled over put some water in it waited awhile was okay then a couple days ago changed the thermostat just to get one then yesterday on a half hour drive started overhearting bad had to pull over and let the car sit for awhile. Then to day as i'm driving on the street to the store not going more than 35 it starts overheating and smokes everywhere what should I do seems to have gotten worse since new thermo. Um it has had a new tranny about 3 weeks ago and now it makes a screetch when it starts someone said dust plates but I don't kno any help please! Oh yeah 91 chevy caprice everything same as stock 305 v8

Check for leaks! Had 2 tube who has cracked. The tube from thermostat.
Also had a waterpump who was leaking.

But still I have problem, if I use the heater then my temp goes wild, goes to the top and after a little while it goes down and goes like that. If I dont use the heather or move it to cold then the temp goes down or are stable.
