Brakes problem
1992 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have replaced the 2 front calipers and pads on my 92 Caprice wagon because the left (drivers side) caliper was binding and causing the wheel to get hot and smell. After replacing both front calipers and pads, and bleeding the brakes, the left caliper still binds. The right releases OK.
What can cause this problem? Is it the master cylinder? The ABS system? The ABS sensor? I'm at a loss.
Thanks
Cliff

Hi
Flex brake line is the culprit they are made of several plies the inner ruptures allows fluid to get to caliper but closes offf its return. Pump brakes with caliper locked open bleeder if pressurized fluid shoots out and caliper frees then replace flex line.
Hope this helps

I replaced the flex line on the left side when I replaced the caliper. I tested the brakes as you suggested and some fluid did leak out freeing the wheel. What else could cause this pressure from being released?

Floating caliper check mounting bolts and bushings and lube. Can't think of what might be checking pressure to just that wheel.

Everything is new and I lubed it just like the other side and the way I have done this for years on other cars. Can it be the ABS system? As stated, the wheel does free up when I open the bleed fitting. Only a small amount of fluid comes out.
