Hi my name is Monika, I have a Chevy Camaro 98 155,000 miles 3.8 Litre, I was just wondering if anyone could Pleaaase help me locate the Crank and Map sensors so I can replace them in detail? And if its not too much I was thinking of putting power windows on this summer seing how its all manual so I was wondering if someone can tell me if that would wreck the car and what the right way to do it would be, I bought the Mitchelle repair book so if that helps maybe you can point out where on the book that would show me how.

Thank you SO Much :) !

Look in the engine performance section, ignition system. I don't have the book but logically that is where I would expect it to be.

The right front wheel has to come off and the harmonic balancer as well to access the cranshaft position sensor. You'll need a puller for that.

Right rear of the intake manifold, above the valve cover.

Hi my name is Monika, I have a Chevy Camaro 98 155,000 miles 3.8 Litre, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what could possibly be wrong with my car, it'll drive for about 5-8 minutes good then it stall, backfires, and the rev goes down to 0, I took it to a scan test and said I needed to replace the crank and map sensor which I did but it is still doing the same exact thing $730 later Grrrrrrr! So if anyone knows whats wrong with it I would REally appreciate the help.

Thank you,
Monika E.

HEy Monika,

My guess is they told you the codes, but didn't diagnose it. You need to clear the codes and have a crankshft position sensor variation learn precedure done on it since you replaced the sensor. You need a scanner capable of doing this however.
