My car has the 3.4L with a manual transmission and 166,900miles. I am having trouble with my car not wanting to start after it gets hot. At first I just had to wait a few minutes to get it to crank back up. But today I waited almost an hour and it still didnt crank. It turns over. But it sounds something like an engine sounds when the distributor is turned too high. The engine light comes on occasionally and the security light has been on since last year.

When I called my husband to get help today, he suggested I reset the computer by removing and replacing one of the battery cables. I did this and sure enough. It cranked right up. When I got home and shut it off though. It didnt want to crank again. My husband thinks it is definitly a sensor. Is there one certain sensor that could cause this or several? And which should we try first. Any help would be deeply appreciated. We plan to take a trip to Texas in a couple weeks and dont want to break down along the way.

If you got a check engine light on, I would go to auto zone get the trouble code scanned, Then repalce the sensor thats giving you the problem.

I did go to Autozone. And they informed me that their computer would only read a 96 or higher. My husband looked into an ODB reader. We are going to pick one up tomorrow. Hopefully we can get this resolved. BUT pllllleeeassee. Anyone that has had a similiar problem. Please let me know. Thanks
