Hello, my car stalled one night and a P0300 random misfire code comes up. One coil pack and the ignition control module failed and were replaced thus shutting off the check engine light. A couple weeks later, the light comes back on with the same code but the engine is running smoother(still feel a miss). Ignition control module passes. Two coils had to be replaced(including the new one, third one still fine). Plugs and wires were replaced(plugs on one side were worse than other side). Random misfire code still comes up. What can be causing it?

Has the fuel pressure been checked? Also, what code are you getting? Is it a PO300?

Let me know.

I tried checking the fuel pressure. For some reason I couldn't get a reading. Unfortunately I can't drive it to a shop. And yes, I'm still getting the P0300 Random Misfire code.

Was there any pressure in the fuel system when you attached the pressure gauge? Was there a reason that you know of as to why you couldn't get a reading?

None of the adapters would fit the shrader. Just tried again, the threads are different sizes so it wont screw down all the way.

Only other info I can give is that I only notice the miss while in idle. And I'm also getting a 'P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1' code.

That code deals with either a bad O2 sensor or that catylatic converter. As far as the miss, have you checked for vacuum leaks? That could even cause the code you're getting. If the miss is only at idle, chances are the pump is good. Just for the heck of it, pull the vacuum hose off the regulator to make sure there is no fuel in it. Maybe you're getting too much pressure at an idle.

Let me know.
