Why does the engine cooling fan operate when the "service engine light " is displayed. Water temperature is below normal operating limit.

Cross the A & B terminal on the ALDL tha tis on the bottom of the dash, turn the key on and count the flashes. That is your codes then come to the site an dsee why you have them. Look under OBD 1. A sender may be bad and telling the computer to turn the fan on.
