HI, I HAVE A 97 CHEVY BLAZER. AND AM HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING IT UP. IT WILL SPUTTER SERVERAL TIMES BEFORE ACTUALLY STARTING UP. SOMETIME I'LL EVEN GET A QUICK PISTON SLAP AT STARTUP TOO. I ALSO GET A STRONG SMELL OF RAW FUEL EVERYTIME I TURN THE TRUCK OFF. ANYWAYS AFTER STARTING IT UP AND LEAVING IT RUN FOR WHILE I'LL JUST TURN IT OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WILL STARTUP JUST FINE WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. BUT IF I LEAVE IT OFF FOR ABOUT 30 TO 60 MIN. AND THEN TRY TO STARTUP AGAIN IT WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN SPUTTER SERVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING UP AGAIN. I HAVE ALREADY CHANGE ALL MY SPARK PLUG AND CABLE, IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, AIR FILTER, OIL CHANGE, FUEL FILTER, NEW FUEL PUMP AND THE LIST GOES ON. AND THIERS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EITHER JUST SO YOU KNOW. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEMS IS. THANKS PLEASE WRITE SOON

Try using some throttle body cleaner in the throttle body, there could be some carbon deposits in the air jets. When you first get it started check the exhaust to see if you can smell the excess fuel smell. Once the truck runs then it burns off the excess. With the truck sitting the fuel bulds back up after a while, This could be the problem, but I would not say it could not be involved with the computer. I am not that good with the computers and look at practical problems. If this does not help other moderators are more knowlegable about it. Another thing to check is the fuel return carbon filter.

I've Already Cleaned the throttle body with throttle body Cleaner and I also Lightly Cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve and I've also checked the TPS Sensor just in case it was dirty. I replaced the PCV Valve too. I've also used a fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank. So please try to do some more researh if you can and please let write back thatnks for your reply.

Did you have the evaporator emissions system canister checked or replaced? They can clog up creating a fuel smell.
