Rough idle

I have a 1993 chevy blazer, 180,110 miles.4.3 liter v6 vortec. Idles really rough at idle, and in gear with the brake engaged. Changed fuel filter, not much else. Would just like to know what steps to take, and where to start>thax guys

Check the EGR valve, they get some pieces of carbon in then and stick open slighly and will cause the problems you described.
